South America – Completed

South America

From Maullin (Chile) to Buenos Aires (Argentina)

(3,002km, Dec 2021 – Mar 2022)

Summary

My third continent crossing was South America. Starting South of Chile in Maullin on the Pacific Ocean coast, I ran North towards Valparaiso and Santiago, then across the Andes towards Argentina, finishing my run in Buenos Aires by the Atlantic Ocean.

The route crossed the Andes at the Cristo Redemptor Pass, at 4000m elevation. Crossing the Andes would have been difficult solo pushing my 30kg stroller. My friend James joined the journey and was driving a campervan between all stages, as well as riding his bike.

From this point on, I did not have to carry my gear anymore. I ran with a light backpack containing my water, satellite tracker and GPS devices.

I finished the 3rd continent crossing south of Buenos Aires, where I was welcomed, on 8th March (International Women Day) by the Ambassador and the French community.
