Europe

Chilly, windy run, from the Mediterannean coast to the hills of Esterel on some breathtaking view trails

A cold start today! The wind was still quite strong, though nowhere near as gusty as yesterday. The wind was blowing West whilst I was heading East / North East, so it was on my side most of the run – not a major hindrance though. I followed the Mediterranean coastline for a while then went inland through the beautiful town of Frejus and cut through the Esterel mountain range.

I wasn’t expecting to be sighting the Alps yet. Though I am only two days away from crossing into Italy, I should have known. What a beautiful surprise. Only just a few weeks ago, I was leaving the Pyreneans behind me…

As I started climbing up the Esterel range, my pace slowed down a lot. I ran up a small road first, which ended up being a trail – but a wide one, rocky, but easier on BoB than what I was fearing! The road was pleasant, no cars, and I went a full 10km meeting not a soul at all!

I notice my hands are starting to take a toll from being exposed to the elements every morning for the past 3 months, sun, wind, rain, cold… my skin is turning into lizard skin, maybe I’ll be shedding soon and getting a new, shiny one, who knows!
