Day 807 – Australia – NSW [Rest Day in Goulburn]

25/08/22

Rest day in Goulburn (New South Wales, Australia)

Last rest-day of the journey in Goulburn, busy and instructive

My first robot-served meal at the GreenGrocer

It was nice to enjoy perfect weather on the last rest-day of the journey. I spent the morning replying to emails and sorting out details regarding the upcoming Sydney arrival. Then I headed out to the GreenGrocers, a cyclist-cafe in Goulburn. Very nice, spacious, busy and trendy. For the 1st time in my life, I had my food delivered by a robot! I also met Sophie, a local journalist and we had a great chat about the journey.

Beautiful Goulburn bildings

Then it was time to work on the motorhome. This has been our home for the past 4 months, and it was time to clear things up. We donated our camping equipment and other things, such as the BBQ, to the local OpShop. They were pleased with the many items they donated! For us it was a relief, as there was no point carrying all that back to Europe on extra-weight. More expensive than the items themselves.

Ah, and the Trappers Bakery!

I also got to visit the wool museum, which is located inside the giant Merino. Very instructive! Wool is a major part of Australia’s economy, on the top (alongside – and below – minerals and metals) of the country’s major exports. We visited the gift shop and everything was very tempting – but having just cleared the van, I didn’t feel like adding more to my luggage weight.

My parents are currently in Sydney. They arrived over 10 days ago and have been out and about visiting the country. They are now settled in Sydney, visiting and keeping very busy as always. Only 5 days to go till I see them again at the Opera House! I attach in my photo gallery of the day the Press Release (in English, but also in French). The arrival is scheduled at 12:30 in Sydney at the Opera House on Tuesday 30th September!
