Day 808 – Australia – NSW [Goulburn to Cannyonleigh]

26/08/22

45km

From Goulburn (New South Wales) to Cannyonleigh (New South Wales)

Australia

Back on the road, great weather, the countdown to Sydney is on!

Sydney doesn’t seem that far away

Warmer temperatures, blue skies, a few clouds. The day started very well. I ran out of Goulburn and after about 10km, I had to get back on the Hume Highway for about 6km. Then it was all countryside roads again.

Ah, the quietness of a country road..

After a full week on the Hume Highway, how very enjoyable to be on a road with no cars, surrounded by trees, birds, animals. I spotted a yellow-tailed black cockatoo – very wide wingspan with a few yellow patches notably on the tail. I also ran a few kilometres to the sound of the kookaburra. Their laughter-like song is very infectious, what a great bird, making people smile.

On on!

Not long to go now! Three more runs of 45km each, then the grand finale in Sydney. I am trying to drum up some interest, from the media and the few friends I have in Sydney. My parents will be there anyway, so the welcome committee is already satisfactory by my standards!
