Day 791 – Australia – VIC [Broadford to Seymour]

09/08/22

32km

From Broadford (Victoria) to Seymour (Victoria)

Australia

It had to happen… running with Covid!

And that’s… a positive!

Well, where to start..? Yesterday’s marathon had been a bit difficult, but (and as I wrote in yesterday’s blog) I was under the impression I was getting over the “cold”. After dinner, James received a message: one of our contacts in Melbourne had just tested positive to Covid. I reached for the self-test pack we carry in the van and… it came back positive! And so did James.

Staying away from humans today

We arrived in Melbourne free of Covid, having tested ourselves to make sure we were okay ahead of meeting people. And we always knew this was a big risk! Having said that, I am quite positively surprised that I can carry on running with no other effect than feeling tired. Today I chose to cut 10km of the distance and it felt much better.

Into Seymour after “only” 32km today

I ran on country roads today, quiet and beautiful under the bright blue skies. I petted a poney, some cows and an alpaca on the way. I now have to remember to stay away from people and wear my mask when I enter a shop. It’s not so often that it happens, but it could be easily forgotten when one doesn’t have symptoms and everyone else has ditched the mask.
