Day 790 – Australia – VIC [Whittlesea to Broadford]

08/08/22

42km

From Whittlesea (Victoria) to Broadford (Victoria)

Australia

Running off the cold, a slow day on beautiful country roads under perfect weather

Bright blue skies out of Whittlesea

I was again a bit under the weather today. On a positive note, I have only one symptom left today which is a very wet cough. A bit of a bummer when running, but at least it feels like it might well be the last day of running and dealing with it. Meanwhile, it made for a relatively poorly day on the road!

Like Springtime!

The weather was perfect, it is still quite early but you could have mistaken it for a first day of spring. Bright blue skies… being on country roads I could hear all the birds and saw a new kind of parrot: a big black one with a black & yellow tail.

On the (quiet) road to Broadford

My route to Sydney entails running north of the Kosciuszko National Park and also avoiding the Blue Mountains. My next rest day should be in the town of Holbrook, and I am planning another one in Goulburn, just a few days out of Sydney. Having committed to an arrival date at the Opera House, I felt it was safer to have two rest days to “play with” for contingency.

I have to mention the amazing progress in donations towards the NGO I’m running for (Women for Women International). I am as of tonight at 63% of my target. The donations have gone steadily and strongly up since Melbourne Consulate drummed up some serious interest. Almost A$2,700 has been collected since Melbourne (including a A$2,000 anonymous donation!). I always make a point to thank all contributors with a personal message. So: if any anonymous donator reads this blog: a big thank you from the bottom of my heart!
