Day 780 – Australia – VIC [Dadswells Bridge to Great Western]

29/07/22

42km

From Dadswells Bridge (Victoria) to Great Western (Victoria)

Australia

Past the Giant Koala, through rural Wimmera, Stawell and Great Western

With the giant Koala

It’s the 4th Giant Australian native animal I’m running past. There was the Giant Kangaroo at the Border Village (SA), then the Giant Wombat at Penong, Giant Galah in Kimba – and now the Giant Koala at Dadswells Bridge! I took the usual selfie and got on with today’s run. A 42km straight run along the A8 Highway.

Melbourne’s in sight…

Not much to report from the road today. James was out on his bike, in the Grampians, sightseeing the aboriginal rock art and other beautiful natural landmarks. I plodded along, made my way to Stawell and then Great Western. I sat at the pub, by the fire, drying my running clothes whilst James made his way to town. Another 6 runs to Melbourne, I’m answering a plethora of emails about the arrival and I feel very good about it – how nice to feel there’s people waiting for you somewhere, trying to make your arrival the best they can!
