Day 762 – Australia – SA [Everard Central to Avon]

11/07/22

40km

From Everard Central (South Australia) to Avon (South Australia)

Australia

Running across the countryside on a grey and rainy day – very quiet roads

Morning company

Cold and grey with a chance of rain. I set out a little earlier than usual, hoping to avoid the forecasted rain. Cold it was, beautiful and quiet on mostly unused country roads. Like yesterday, I noticed quite a number of abandoned farms. It looks though like quite a fertile region.

The local gliding club out to greet me

Halfway through, James had parked the van and set his office inside as he had quite a lot of work to catch up with. He did so next to the Balaklava gliding club, and the wind was good today, so activity was in full swing. He got to chat with them a little. And as I ran through, I was lucky to see one of the gliders be propelled into the air. Everyone from the club was out and they all gathered by the roadside to clap and cheer me on! A nice surprise it was.

View from the office today

There was not much going in Avon, the place where I finished the run. So we drove a few dozens kilometers to Port Wakefield. A pretty coastal town with… not much going on really! We’re gonna visit the pub tonight, with a chance for a local dinner.

PS: A very happy birthday to my youngest niece and goddaughter Alice – who I know reads the blog every now and then, even though it’s in english. Happy 11th!
