Day 746 – Australia – SA [Wirrulla (62k west) to Wirrulla (21k west)]

25/06/22

42km

From Wirrulla (62k west) (South Australia) to Wirrulla (21k west) (South Australia)

Australia

Bright and sunny skies again, running on a trail – and an unexpected return to Ceduna

These sheep got plenty of space to roam

It still feels rather warm and nice for a “winter” time in Australia. I am very lucky with the weather, having had only a few days of rain or cold. So it was beautiful as I set up and I was able to run again on the trail that runs parallel to the road, away and safe from traffic. I went along the water pipeline for a while. Ran past fields with flocks of sheep again. Very enjoyable.

Taking up 2 lanes! 2 police cars and 2 “pilot” cars with these

Halfway through the run I got a phone call from the Ceduna Motel: James had forgotten his wallet in the room! That means we will have to drive all the way back to Ceduna after the run. Stay in Ceduna’s camping park. Then drive back to my start point in the morning. More commuting than I was expecting, but it is what it is!

Along the waterpipe

On a side note, and since I am running for “Women for Women International” – I would like to share how extremely distraught I felt by what’s happening in the US. I am reminded of a famous quote from Simone de Beauvoir (a French woman author, contemporary to my Grandmother): “Never forget that all it will take is a political, economic or religious crisis for women’s rights to be questioned again. These rights are never acquired. You will have to remain vigilant throughout your life” (1967). All too true, sadly.
