Day 745 – Australia – SA [Rest Day in Ceduna]

24/06/22

Rest day in Ceduna (South Australia, Australia)

An overcast, foggy and rainy day – perfect for a lazy day

View of the bay and jetty, Thevenard

We are staying in the motel at Ceduna, for a change! We mostly stay in the motorhome, but every now and again (on rest days) it is nice to have space and have a proper room and bathroom to stay in. The motel at Ceduna is right by the jetty and also home to the restaurant and sports bar of Ceduna. Quite the place to be!

It was grey and foggy this morning. Good, as we had quite a lot of work to catch up with. First thing first is trying to get a Visa extension for James. He had initially offered to accompany me through the Nullarbor and to Adelaide. His offer now extends all the way to Melbourne – but that means extending the 90 days Visa he is currently travelling on. We’re working on it.

We went for a drive in the afternoon, checking out the bay, Thevenard. The port at Smoky Bay is the second biggest in South Australia. Ceduna is rather quiet, not much happening apart from the yearly oyster festival. Have I mentioned yet that Ceduna is Australia’s oyster capital? Well, all I can say is that the fresh fish and oysters make for a nice change after the “roadhouse diet” of the past month – and it’s the 1st time in the world-run where I have noticed a drop in my weight. Time to put some healthy pounds back on!
