South America

A moody day on the road, heading north on the coastal road – and seeing the sea lions off

Sea lions sanctuary, Cobquecura, sunset

Yesterday evening, we went to the beach in Cobquecura, and observed the sea lions living off the little rocky island (natural sanctuary). Listening to them, seeing them moving around, diving in for food, feeding their youngsters, and their sound as well. It’s the first time I am seeing them and it was a beautiful surprise, I did not know they lived off the coast of Chile. How truly beautiful.

On a quiet road today

I set off this morning out of Curanipe, heading inland for a little bit. The coast is all very rugged, volcanic black sand and high waves. I am imagining it would be a paradise for surfers. I saw 1 or 2 locals with surfboards on the roof of their cars, but nothing too fancy. One of these little unknown spots for surfing I reckon.

The run today was uneventful, I was not 100%. Yesterday both James and I got sick and it seems it was the food we had at the seafront shack. There’s no other explanation. Anyway, I tried to get some food in this morning, and I also took some charcoal tablets. My philosophy in general is to not take medicine. But charcoal is 100% natural and it works wonders on stomach issues. It seems to have worked!

Tomorrow we are heading to Constitucion where we will also enjoy a rest day – by the river in another eco-lodge, a sort of tree-house. More about it tomorrow!
