Day 631 – South America – Chile [Loanco to Constitucion]

12/01/22

40km

From Loanco (Chile) to Constuticion (Chile)

South America

A great day on the quiet and scenic road to Constitucion

The coastal road to Constitucion

Today was one of these days again, quite typical, with a grey and misty start. It almost felt like rain as we drove to my re-start point in Loanco. Wipers on, I got myself ready for a rainy day – before I understood it was all only the ocean mist. The air was warm and it progressively cleared up to unveil a bright blue sky by the end of the run.

Fishing boats in Los Pellines

I ran past one the little fishing village of Los Pellines and watched from the road but did not stop by. Loads of fish and birds and fishing boats. James cycled all the way down and stayed there quite a while, seeing all the fish being brought in, ceviche being made on the spot, seafood empanadas… and as usual, he filled his backpack with a lot of goodies! I like the after-run snacks these days.

Staying by the Rio Maule

Tomorrow is a rest day, and I will try and make the best of our stay by the Rio Maule. There is a lot of wildlife around, blackneck swans especially, and some native trees too. Ah, and it is really time I get myself a new pair of running, my ankles are screaming for new shoes!
