Glorious sunshine to welcome me into Ohio, the 9th State of the World Run

I left this morning to bright blue skies and ran past the Steuben County soldiers monument downtown Angola. A massive 70 feet tall memorial to the troops of Angola who fought in the Civil War. As I exited Angola I turned onto a country road and stayed on it right through to Holiday City.

The view from today’s rural run

I missed the “Welcome to Ohio” sign as it was on the Interstate – on which I did not want to run. Ohio is the 9th state of the US crossing (which will count 14 states in total). Today was a very rural run, with lots of farms around.

Meeting the locals

Holiday City is not really a city! There’s a few hotels, gas stations and restaurants. It is on the outskirts of the town of Montpelier which is to the south west of it. I went for food and ended up chatting with the folks at the bar. As always, I tend to meet and engage with more people in rural areas.
