Day 562 – US – Indiana [Shipshewana to Angola]

18/10/21

48km

From Shipshewana (Indiana) to Angola (Indiana)

North America

Leaving the Amish town of Shipshewana, on a very rural run through the dust road

Traffic this morning!

I met plenty more of the typical black horse carriages as I made my way out of Shipshewana. Running on the road there was brilliant, because the cars are so used to being mindful of the carriages and the horses in particular, they give plenty of clearance and stay behind until it is safe to pass.

One of my travel companions today

I moved from the country road to the dirt road and it became even more quiet. I only ran past farms, horses, donkeys, goats and sheep as well as the occasional dog. I notice how dogs roam free here – much better than seeing them tied to a leash all day or even worse in a cage. I had a few dogs following me for a while. They always go straight for the stroller to sniff what’s inside (no food there, sorry dogs!).

Today was my last full run in Indiana as I prepare to cross into the 9th state of the US crossing tomorrow.
