Day 508 – US – North Dakota [Rest Day in Dickinson]

25/08/21

Rest day in Dickinson (North Dakota, North America)

A leisurely day in Dickinson, walking around and resting

Residential area, Dickinson ND

I set out for a long walk this morning. The hotel I stay at is on the outskirts of town, near the commercial area. The walk to town was about 3km. I was pleased to see the wind had died and the skies were blue again. I headed straight to the local bike store to get more spare tubes and repair kits – I have exhausted all my glue tubes and patches last week!

Main Street, Dickinson ND

Downtown, not much was happening. Dickinson is a small town, most of the activity revolves around the university and it’s holiday right now. I walked around the main street and all the way back to the hotel.

I worked on my logistics again. There seems to be a lot of straight roads ahead of me, long stretches of straight road until at least Chicago. I am out of the mountainous areas that formed the first third of the US crossing and it should be a lot more flat now – until Pennsylvania I think.

Autumn has definitely set in and looking at the forecast, it does not look like I will encounter any 30+ Celsius days going forward. Summer this year has been much kinder to me than last year!
