From Kyeamba (New South Wales) to Mount Adrah (New South Wales)

Australia

Fabulous warm day on the road, strong legs and loads of waving

Beautiful morning on the road

What a difference a good night sleep makes. I was a bit anxious this morning, wondering if the pain I had felt yesterday would still be there. Last night I had taken extra precautions: massage with Tiger Balm, rest, not lifting anything not even my bag. Trying to give my adductors as good a rest as I could. And then when I started running, I immediately noticed how strong my legs felt. I also noticed something else: I was feeling a lot (therefore using a lot) my quadriceps and especially the outer segment of it. My body was adjusting to the sore adductors by using another set of muscles… How smart!

Less than 500km to Sydney..!

With this newfound strength and comfort I was able to enjoy my surroundings. Again I found the Hume Highway to be relatively pleasant. And something happened today. When I normally have to wave at truck drivers for them to wave back, I noticed how they would honk their big horn upon seeing me and wave at me enthusiastically. I reckon the word must have gone around, possibly on their CB channel. They obviously looked out for me, often even changing lanes when spotting me to give me ample space and spare me from the wind they create. How kind.

Beautiful landscapes

I name my finish as “Mount Adrah” because that’s the closest name on the map to where I stopped on the Hume Highway. The junction is called “Deltroit Rd”. Tonight we drove to Adelong to stay there. Adelong is part of the Snowy Mountains, beautifully set in a valley full of merino sheep and beef cattle. A former mining region, it is now mostly pastoral.
