A day on the Hume Highway, better than I thought and a little nagging pain

Quiet early morning on the Hume Highway

When I approached Ceduna, some 2,000km ago, I was looking forward to one thing: getting new shoes. The ones I was wearing then were completely uneven, lacking in stability and I was starting to feel unusual pain in my pelvis joint. Well… 2,000km later, here we are: same problem again! I will have to urgently find new ones, as there is a nagging pain, the same, developing in the exact same place. The run was fine except for about 10km where the pain appeared – then disappeared just like that. I need to buy my 17th pair of runners urgently!

Friendly faces on the way

Today was my first day of running along the Hume Highway. I have to admit it was a lot better than I thought it would be. Traffic was relatively light, courteous drivers, I was back on to my routine of waving at everyone and everyone waved back. As Tom Denniss has pointed out to me, I may not have to run a full 7 days on the highway. I will be able, eventually, to find bits of the old highway to run on.

No lemon, no melon!

I stopped the run in a place named Kyeamba, but there is really nothing there. So we drove to Wagga Wagga, a place with a funny name, to spend the night. Besides the funny name Wagga Wagga has got a lot to see – museums, botanical gardens, there is a lot of history here. But I’m afraid one afternoon stay cannot do it justice! More commute tomorrow…
