Foggy, humid… on a straight line to San Jacinto (west of Mercedes)

James dropping me off in the fog this morning!

It was incredibly foggy as I started this morning. Visibility was less than 50m. Luckily I was going to run on a country dust road the whole way. As for directions… well, today was one of the straightest roads I’ve had in the whole world-run so far (wait till I get to Australia!). So, there was no directional issue, all I had to do was run on this straight road all the way to the finish.

A long straight road… humid and foggy

As well as being foggy, it was also really humid. One of the effects of the high humidity I am experiencing recently, is that I get a lot of chafing. My clothes get drenched in sweat within 30mn of running, and they chafe against my skin the whole way. That’s my shorts, tshirt, bra – and the backpack as well. Tonight I’ve lost skin around my waist, under my arms, on my shoulders and in my back. It hurts a lot when you get under the shower! I’ll have to use vaseline a little more aggressively…

The cathedral basilica in Mercedes

Tonight we are staying in Mercedes, a major city of the Buenos Aires provincia. It has been a few days that we are really enjoying the night scene (at least diner time!) of the towns/ cities we stay in. Yesterday again we found a nice little restaurant with a patio, cooking barbecue and very delicious dishes. Though still running through rural areas, I can tell now that we are getting close to the capital city. Not long to go!

PS: you can see in my pictures gallery that I met with a beautiful pray mantis today. I spent some time getting close to her and taking pictures, it was amazing. I had first thought it was a leaf in the middle of the trail…
