Day 793 – Australia – VIC [Longwood to Violet Town]

11/08/22

41.5km

From Longwood (Victoria) to Violet Town (Victoria)

Australia

Free of symptoms, on a very rainy cold and grey day – Winters are harsh in Victoria!

A grim morning in Victoria

I will test myself tomorrow morning to make sure the absence of symptoms is also translated into not carrying the virus anymore or being contagious. It is the best thing possible that I am traveling in the motorhome with James, as we are able to isolate and be completely self-sufficient without having to make contact with people. Still, it would be better when we get our negative-results!

I didn’t get in the van today, the only strategy when it rains it to keep running!

It was grey and set for rain this morning, but slightly warmer than yesterday. I ran the first half of the run completely dry before the skies opened. I was ready for it, warm clothes and waterproof(ish) jacket, so nothing to fear really! When it rains it only affects me insofar as I don’t take as many breaks as usual as I tend to get cold very quickly. Keeping moving is key.

Pretty little town with flowers names for every street

I made a silly directional mistake this morning that cost me a few kilometers as well as running in places I was not supposed to run in. I took a wrong turn after crossing the Hume Highway and headed south instead of running east. Luckily I realised early, I could have ended up way out of my plans! The bonus was that I ran in very wild places with kangaroos everywhere. I looked up for koalas as there are supposed to be plenty here, but coudn’t see any. Their fur is quite camouflage so I reckon they’re hard to spot in trees.
