Australia

Is it Christmas already? Past Wudinna and onto more trail running

Running through a village, Widunna – lovely!

I woke up today with one of these great e-mails. Except this one was better. The title goes “Someone has donated to your page”. (Women for Women International). Always good news. I am way behind on my target (the target is 1$ per 1km run). Except when I opened the e-mail and followed the link to the donation… I found out that “someone” had donated 5,000 Euro! I have a wonderful family of 5 to thank for – my brother, sister-in-law, nephew and nieces. What outstanding support..!

A beautiful green trail by the Highway

It gave me a spring in my step as I started running in the cold morning. Pipeline trail all the way to Kyancutta – then a highway side-trail to follow. How awesome. I am surprised by how much I am able to run outside the Highway. In the US I use to have the service-roads to run on and they were all fairly quiet and safe. But here in Australia it’s all trail running and it is a great alternative to the Eyre Highway.

In as good a state as my computer – sadly

These days I am not always connected to the internet – especially on nights spent in the wilderness. I always write my my blogpost though and it goes through as soon as I am online again. Clumsy me has dropped the computer yesterday. This computer has endured 2 years ½ of life on the road already, including being carried in a stroller in all sorts of weather conditions. It seems my dropping it yesterday has made it the slowest computer on the planet. I may need to buy a new one when I reach Adelaide in 2 weeks – unplanned expense for sure!
