Back on the highway with a bitterly cold wind

Back on the road

There was another lovely gift when I woke up this morning. Phil & Joyce – the couple from Tasmania, in their 70’s, who are crossing Australia on gtheir tandem bike – have also made a donation to Women for Women Intl. We met Phil & Joyce around the Caiguna Roadhouse, at the beginning of the Nullarbor crossing. They have just made their way to Adelaide and been raising money for Polio throughout their journey. How lovely of them to have contributed to my fundraiser.

Old rusty truck

Today I was back on the highway. The lovely trails I have been enjoying lately seem to have disappeared. Not that I mind: the highway is extremely quiet and it has got a good shoulder to run on. The weather is definitely turning. There is a bitterly cold headwind that blew all day – I was prepared, wearing long sleeves and a jacket.

I haven’t seen these yet on the continent

We’re staying at the free camping site in Kimba tonight. It’s so cold outside we are retreating inside the van to cook the meal on the gas burner in the hope to raise the temperature by a few degrees inside the van. It’s going to be cold again!
