An offroad run on the old road and a night at Folwers Bay

I had noticed yesterday a semblance of trail by the side of the road. As soon as I started the run I ventured to the side and found it. Not far away from the road, maybe 10 or 20m, but far enough to be away from traffic, trucks and noise. Quiet again. It looks like it is the old road, a corrugated dirt road full of potholes, and quite a few rusty wrecks by the side.

Halfway through I ran past the Nundroo roadhouse. Last night’s dinner was quite a pleasant surprise. The roadhouse is run by an Indian couple and they had freshly cooked curry of lamb and chicken in very generous portions. That made for a very different meal from usual.

Anyway, I ran past the roadhouse and noticed a farm and cultivated fields on the opposite side. Now that’s a first in a very long time! The grass is greener, it seems there is a lot of water channelled to the area. Is it the end of the treeless and lifeless Nullarbor plains? Tonight we stay at Fowlers Bay, a beautiful tiny village by the Bay with a long jetty and great views on the ocean. It took 26 km of rough driving on a dirt road, but very much worth the trouble!
