43km

From Granville (Argentina) to Villa Mercedes (Argentina)

South America

Reaching another milestone: 23,000km on a beautiful sunny day in nature

Scenery this morning – fine by me!

This morning I set out to run on the side road, a dirt track, that runs parallel to the main road (Ruta 7) all the way to Villa Mercedes. What a relief! From the very start, all I could hear were birds singing and I noticed how there were a lot of parrots. Flying around in flashes of bright yellow, green and red. What a soothing effect on my mind (and my ears & eyes) compared to yesterday’s main road run!

Someone else enjoyed the quiet nature road

James also enjoyed his riding a lot more and kept me company for the first half. Then he had to return to the van and drive it all the way to the finish point. Thankfully he was rather quick and was able to refuel me with water in the final kilometers. I had not met a soul (less so a place to buy drinks) the whole way! My two bottles only hold 1.5 litre combined, I was rationing towards the end. It is in this kind of situation that I typically miss my BoB – and the lower compartment that was always holding cold drinks in its isotherm bag…. Well, you can’t have it all!

Hop hop hop, 23,000km and counting!

23,000km have been run so far… and counting! When I started the journey, I always thought that I would be counting down the last few thousands of km. However… now that the number of km has been increased, and the final number should be anywhere between 28,000 and 30,000 it feels less like celebrating – after all, there is still one biiiiiig continent to cross!
