Day 666 – South America – Argentina [San Luis (east) to Granville]

16/02/22

40.5km

From San Luis (east) (Argentina) to Granville (Argentina)

South America

Back on the road alone, on another straight run along the busy Ruta 7

Same old road, early morning

It felt very strange to set out alone this morning. Habits form quickly and I had gotten used to meeting Franck every morning and contemplating the daily marathon together. Back to my old ways! I started the run and was surprised to see my altimeter get back up to over 1000m+ in the first half – I am running on some high altitude plateau. I had been expecting to be going downhill all the time!

Beautiful sculpture at the toll station

Today I ran along Ruta 7, which was not too busy thankfully, Going forward, I have identified a side gravel road – which James recced on his bike – which will be just perfect for running in peace. Meanwhile today I ran along and there was literally nothing on my way for 40km. Besides the toll station at km22 it is.

Today’s finish

Villa Mercedes is the 2nd biggest city of the San Luis region. I made a silly mistake today: I had identified an accommodation on Booking.com and booked it… in March instead of February! These types of mistakes don’t happen often thankfully, but when they do… Anway the host was very gracious, canceled our booking and re-directed us to a very nice apartment in the center of Villa Mercedes, by the main square. We are receiving a lot of benevolent help on our travel in South America!
