Day 570 – US – Ohio [Avon Lake to Cleveland]

26/10/21

24km

From Avon Lake (Ohio) to Cleveland (Ohio)

North America

A very short run into Cleveland, on a windy and wet day

Leafy suburbs and pedestrian paths all along

I had a very late start today. With only 24km to run, I was in no rush to reach Cleveland (check-in at the hotel would not be possible before noon). So I took it very slow in the morning and it was just as well, as the rain stopped right before I headed out of the door.

Entering Cleveland via the Veterans Memorial Bridge

I was again surprised how relatively warm it was. It was not to last though, as the northerly wind gradually picked up and it got colder and colder as I approached the big city. As for the rain, it stayed at bay mostly, I was on and off in the final 10km and was more like a strong drizzle rather than a downpour. The roads were very safe today, the leafy suburbs provided ample side walks and safe pedestrian paths – which nobody else other than me seemed to be using.

Sunset in the city…

I am very happy to have a rest day ahead. A day that is not about running! This afternoon as I rested at the hotel I closed my eyes for what I thought would be a short rest… and woke up over 2 hours later. I guess I need a proper rest. I took a walk around the neighborhood at sunset and the colors reflecting on the skyscrapers, in hues of pink and orange were very beautiful…
