Day 421 – EU – Italy [Transit at Rome Airport]

30/05/21

Travel from Trieste (Italy, Europe) to Thessaloniki (Greece, Europe)

1st day of transit and a very costly mistake … on for a long wait now

Stranded for 2 days at Roma Airport… BoB’s not impressed…!

I got up early this morning and headed to the checkin counter for my flight to Athens, Greece. I had my flying ticket handy, my PCR test and the PLF form (an online passenger location form, required for entry into Greece for Covid tracking purposes). A happy day!

And then… I was denied boarding as I had made a mistake when filling out my PLF! I had mistakenly stated my arrival date in Greece as 31st May instead of 30th. It takes 24hrs upon filling another PLF to obtain a new QR code. And that also compromised the validity of my PCR test. And PCR tests take 24hr to 36hr to deliver results. All in all…. a bloody mess!

I had to book a new flying ticket to Athens (and a new one to Thessaloniki too), book a new PCR test, arrange to stay 2 more nights at Rome airport and move all my upcoming bookings two days back. A very very costly mistake… In the words of my good friend Lisa who was awaiting me in Athens: Silly Old Lootie what have you done again?!

Lisa had planned a party at her apartment tonight with a few friends (and her new cat too). Well the party will have to be put on hold for two days now, will it!

Personal note: today is Mother’s Day in France, so it’s a Happy Brigitte Day from me and thank you for being the 1st one to read the blog every day, that’s true unrelenting support!
