Europe

A long and flat run interrupted by a visit to a car body shop to fix BoB the stroller

Typical vegetation of the Lazio Plains

Today’s run was rural, flat, sunny and at times warm or cold depending if I was in the wind or not. It was overall pleasant. I knew that Lazio is a wine growing region, what I didn’t know then was that it also is a Kiwi growing region. As I ran past some fields it reminded me of the kiwi crops I saw in Greece last summer. But I thought it would be quite improbable to have kiwis in Italy too. It turns out Italy is a kiwi producing country indeed. I will try and take a snap tomorrow.

Getting half the rivets of BoB the Stroller replaced

20km into the run, as I was about to exit the city of Cisterna, I spotted a car body shop nearby and tried my luck to get BoB the stroller fixed. A young mechanic agreed to do the job and I happily unloaded the stroller, dismantled the wheels and let him work on the rivets. He had just changed half the rivets when the boss walked in the workshop and expressed his discontent at having me and my stroller in his workshop (I don’t understand italian but this part was clear). No amount of my smiling or any “scuzzi” from my part seemed to calm him down. So I packed up and left. It was a “prestige workshop” after all, BoB versus a Lamborghini doesn’t quite cut the part! Work to be finished later.

The city of Pontinia

I resumed the run and it seems that BoB is a bit more stable now. The run to Pontinia was uneventful. Scattered farms, fields and cattle. A quiet region with beautiful houses too and the mountains of the Abruzzo in the background. I run on the plains which are very flat. As I reached Pontinia the wind suddenly picked up and I was glad the run was over.
