Another beautiful sunny run in the flatlands of the Po Valley all the way to Modena

On the way to Modena, cycling path

The temperature range has now set to a new standard. It’s about 8 degrees when I leave in the morning and it rises to 18 to 20 degrees by mid-morning. I reckon it’s quite high for the season and I hope it doesn’t get too hot too soon. But right now it’s perfect and I am enjoying the balmy weather.

Modena’s Ducal Palace

Once again I decided to avoid the main road and was able to do so using a combination of country roads and pedestrian paths. I am always greeting most of the animals I meet on my way but today I met a very special dog. Donna the golden labrador. She was standing up on her back legs by her porch as I passed by, wagging her tail. I let her smell my hand and started petting her. She went to her yard and started bringing me her toys. I would throw them, she would bring them back, roll on her back, get belly rubs and get up to play again. Her owners came out of the house and we chatted for a while with the dog happily resting her head on my lap. That was a very cool moment.

Modena

Today I reached Modena, another beautiful city. I took a stroll through town to see the cathedral, Ducal palace and gardens. The city is famous for being the center of wealthy factories (Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati) and birth place of illustrious people (Luciano Pavarotti and Enzo Ferrari notably). I also got upgraded for free from a simple room to a great apartment. The landlord explained to me most of their apartments are empty because of the crisis. All in all a great day 🙂
