Day 334 – EU – Switzerland [Zug to Lucerne]

From Zug (Switzerland) to Lucerne (Switzerland)

Europe

Another day another lake, surrounded by mountains, running in a never ending postcard

I set out from Zug towards Arth this morning. This way I would get to run around the Lake of Zug, the Zugersee, which was beautiful in the morning light. It was very quiet but for the many ducks swimming on the lake, making quite a racket at times – their cry sounds like a car horn and can be very noisy!

The second part of the run was more rural. As I approached Lucerne, the mountains in the background became bigger and bigger. A chain of 2000m+ summits, all snow covered and bathed in today’s dusky light. As I reached Lucerne, I was struck by the old town -cobblestone streets, ancient buildings, bridges at the entry of the Lake. A truly stunning city, pristine and welcoming.

Tonight I am having dinner with my friends Alain and Isa. We met in Greece back in 2003 and were part of the same group of friends with Lisa (with whom I spent my 2nd lockdown back in November). I haven’t seen them for many years and I am looking forward to what will surely be a festive reunion! I am hoping they will be fresh enough tomorrow to accompany me on the run out of Lucerne in the morning 🙂
