New Zealand – Completed

New Zealand

From New Zealand (Auckland) to New Zealand (Auckland)

(5km, Sept 2021 – Sept 2022)

Summary

I had initially planned to run across the southern and northern islands of New Zealand .

This was before COVID disrupted the journey. I finished my 4th continent crossing in Sydney Australia, 30th August 2022. I ended up flying to New Zealand to run a symbolic 5km run on the waterfront on 1st September 2022.

Why did I bother coming to the island for just 1 run? For a WRA rule requirement! Running around the world must entail running through 2 antipodal points (there are only about 15 in the world).

Running through Auckland New Zealand constitues an antipodal run to a point I ran in Europe, in Ronda (near Seville) Spain, at the beginning of my journey.

*Antipodal points: points that are diametrically opposed on the globe’s surface.
