Africa – next continent crossing
Having run across Europe, Oceania, North America and South America (all part of the world-run), my 5th continent crossing will be Africa.
The challenges of running across Africa are very different from that of other continents.
The Risk Map of the world for 2024 shows very clearly the nature of these challenges: I don’t think I will have much choice about my route, I will have to navigate the least risky regions of Africa from one ocean coast to the other.
I will unveil my planned route when ready – very well aware that things may well change by the time I reach the start line of the adventure. The current line of thought is a diagonal crossing south-west to north-east, through Namibia, Zambia, Tanzania and Kenya. In the situation as it is, this almost “green corridor” is my safest choice of crossing. Let’s see how things evolve!
(if you look at the Istanbul-to-Shanghai segment on the Asia map… you’ll understand why I am keeping this continent for later!)
