Last hot day of the week, now on for some well deserved rest

I left at dawn again, knowing the first part of today’s run consisted of 12km uphill on a mountain trail. That turned out really well, and though the air was already very hot, I benefited from a small breeze coming from the mountain itself.

I thought if the rest of the run could be done in the same conditions that would be ideal. But it was not to be! In the second half of the run, once I had come down the mountain on the other side, the hot air got its grip on me again.

The landscapes were quite stunning today. I noticed how the mountain was very rocky, almost looking like a lunar landscape at some point. I had a good vista on the Ionian sea and islands in the background – though the high humidity made it hard to see clearly in the far distance.

I finished the run in Amfilochia, quite spent by a week of very high temperatures. I shall enjoy the afternoon and day off tomorrow. The advantage of being so close to Athens is that I am now within driving distance of my friends and I can enjoy their company on my days off!
