Running in rhyme with the incessant and very welcome National Symphonic Orchestra of Cicadas!

Today’s the first day I am blessed with the singing of the cicadas all the way. How beautiful! It helps that I run alongside a road with very little and occasional traffic.

I have noticed how my senses get affected by a primary factor: noise. When there is a lot of traffic (which equates to noise & stress for me) I do not even smell the trees and wildflowers. When the traffic is lighter, I get to enjoy the smells of my surroundings – and more obviously, get to hear the sounds of the natural environments I run in.

I am glad I have elected to spend the rest day in Karlobag. A tiny seaside village across the island of Pag. The mountains at the back of the town are classified a “world biosphere reserve” and known for their very good trails. I think I know how I will spend the day tomorrow!

I am longing to resume “standard distances” next week, on my way to Split further South. Meanwhile: rest & relaxation in Karlobag is in order 🙂
