Day 424 – EU – Greece [Transit to Thessaloniki]

02/06/21

Travel from Trieste (Italy, Europe) to Thessaloniki (Greece, Europe)

Transit from Trieste (Italy) to Thessaloniki (Greece) completed – the world run can resume!

Homemade pancakes & fresh fruits with Prosecco for brunch!

I am glad the transit is over, 4 days of traveling was a lot to take in, especially as I am now so close to concluding the 1st continent crossing. Eager to go!

I landed in Athens yesterday and was welcomed very warmly by my good friend Lisa again. I was treated to a dinner party with friends. And this morning before I left for Thessaloniki, a fabulous home cooked brunch. I also got to meet the latest addition to her cat family, a very friendly one-eyed kitten named Rosa!

With little Rosa, a very friendly kitten 🙂

Lisa has been a real asset during this European journey. She welcomed me at her place when I ran through Athens. Then in the 2nd European lockdown in November-December she had me at her place too. And yet again helping now as I am transiting to Thessaloniki. I owe you big time Lisa!

So here I am now in Thessaloniki, with exactly 3 weeks of running ahead of me to reach Istanbul. I will start early tomorrow morning towards Nea Irakleia, by the sea. I am looking forward to discovering Northern Greece, which I do not know at all besides Thessaloniki itself. Very very eager to start the run again tomorrow!
