Great sunny run on the coast and crossing the 43rd parallel for the 6th time

Off the main road onto the coastal way

Running on the main road (national road 16) was less mind boggling today. I had company! Cyclists everywhere, riding in pelotons mostly, everywhere throughout the morning. It was a beautiful sunny day, in a region that has lifted its Covid restrictions only recently, I guess it explains the affluence of cyclists on the roads. I am amazed how much encouragement I receive. Being only 1m64 tall, the many shouts of “Grande!” on the way made me laugh (it means “great” in italian, but “tall” in french – not quite the same!).

Crossing the 43rd Parallel

As I ran on the seaside corridor, I passed by a board indicating I was crossing the 43rd Parallel. I didn’t think much of it initially. Then I looked at the map closely and realised it’s the 6th time I have crossed this parallel already. I should cross it one more time as I run in North America (hopefully soon).

These days I am spending quite a lot of time devising my vaccination strategy. Being currently on the move in countries I am not a resident of (though it is Europe) makes me ineligible for vaccination on the go. Vaccination will become essential for me to get to another continent (though as of today, even vaccination cannot take me to any other continent…). It seems my only option will be to transit to France (after I finish the European crossing in Istanbul) , hope for a “1 dose only” vaccine (Johnson) and be ready to go… let’s see how this plan unfolds!

PS: If you look at the elevation profile of today’s run, it shows that my Garmin device is lacking in calibration! It shows my start point at 25m below sea level and arrival point at 55m below same sea level… I’m going to have to study to see how I can recalibrate and fix the issue! [it seems to be the 1st time it happens]
