Day 809 – Australia – NSW [Cannyonleigh to Mittagong]

27/08/22

46km

From Cannyonleigh (New South Wales) to Mittagong (New South Wales)

Australia

Sunny and rainy, country and city roads, hilly all the way

Lovely start along Cannyonleigh Rd

Running on Cannyonleigh road this morning was beautiful. We were too far away from any caravan park last night, so we had decided to just park alongside the road and set camp for the night. Besides a curious magpie that kept knocking at the van’s door (presumably for food) it was as quiet as could be. The temperatures were relatively mild, it was okay to spend a night without electricity.

Curious alpacas

After about 18km along the Cannyonleigh Rd, I crossed the Hume Highway and ended up running on the Old Hume Highway. It was a lot busier than the country road! It also gave me more distraction, running through Bowral, Moss Vale and then Mittagong.

In full bloom – could it be springtime?

The day seemed a bit tiring. There’s a lot of ups and downs, rolling hills. I checked the data and I was running between 700m and 800m elevation all day. The good thing is, and Sydney being at sea-level, I’ll have some good downhill over the next two days! Another longer day coming up tomorrow. D-3 to Sydney!
