A cold and grey day along the Highway, between sea and mountains

The first few kilometers before I reached the Highway

The stretch of road to Adelaide starts with 2 days of running along the Highway, with not much alternative in terms of side trails or road. The days after tomorrow I should be able to stick to dust roads and secondary roads, all the way to the outskirts of the State Capital. Meanwhile: I enjoyed maybe 2 or 3km on by the pipeline and ran the rest all along the pipeline.

The A1 by the Flinders mountains

It was a typical winter day, I quite enjoyed it, the wind was not too strong, almost pleasant. To my left the Flinders mountains, to my right I was able to catch glimpses of the sea every now and then. As I was closing in on the last kilometer, I was surprised by a motorist I have met on the Highway in the Nullarbor: Richard, the man who spends his time cleaning the Eyre Hiwghway between Border Village and Ceduna. It was quite a surprise to see a familiar face!

1,600m long – longest jetty of the South Hemisphere

After the run we drove to Port Germein. A small town by the sea, boasting the longest jetty of the southern hemisphere. We are heading to the shore tonight. Everything closes so early in these small towns. Night sets in around 5:30pm and the pub closes at 7:00pm. Quite an early night, even by my standards!
