Great run along the underground gas pipeline trail, quiet and beautiful

Along the Gas Pipeline trail

Today I set out to run alongside the underground gas pipeline, the trail that James discovered yesterday. Although I did not mind the road too much, as traffic is not too heavy, it is definitely a treat to run on a trail, amongst nature, with not a motor vehicle sound around.

A strange shrine along the way

The landscape is still very much that of the eucalyptus trees (gimlet) and the blue bush. Fairly flat, small hills, barely noticeable on the legs. The gas pipeline is marked by white poles every 200m or so and the track is fairly well maintained, I can run without fear of stepping on snakes or any other crawlies. Phone and data reception is not constant and it is why James is spending more time cycling by my side. We have a system of waypoints to make sure we stay in touch.

More aboriginal art in Norseman

Tonight we drove down to Norseman for the night. Norseman is the last “real” town we’ll meet before hitting the Eyre Highway, which marks the beginning of the Nullarbor desert crossing. It will be close to 1,200km before meeting another proper town! It is nice to enjoy the comfort of the historic Railway Motel and it seems quite a treat really.
