Day 675 – South America – Argentina [Leguizamon to Rufino]

25/02/22

40.5km

From Leguizamon (Argentina) to Rufino (Argentina)

South America

Crossing into a new region, Santa Fe, on another hot and straight line run along Ruta 7

Slow start by the waterlogged roadside

It was a slow morning. I struggled to get into a rhythm today and I took multiple breaks in the first half, which is quite unusual for me. Surprisingly though, it got better and better and the second half went much smoother (though way hotter). There are days like these.

The flat landscapes, as far as the eye can see

The scenery remained unchanged. The grassy roadside, the insects and reptiles, the marshes, ducks, birds… It has been a long time now that I have been running on a straight line, along that big Road 7. There are about 10 runs left until I reach Buenos Aires and I expect they will be more or less the same. Patience is a virtue and it reminds me a bit of the straight line runs of my US crossing.

Penultimate region crossing of the continent

Rufino is another “railway line city” founded in 1886 when the section of the train line from Villa Mercedes to Diego de Alvear (which I’ll reach in 2 days) was inaugurated. The towns along the railway line are all very similar. Boasting big grain silos near the station, the towns are not really connected to each other, all stuck between Road 7 and the train line every 40-50km or so. All the way to Buenos Aires!
