Day 620 – South America – Chile [Rest Day in Los Angeles]

Rest day in Los Angeles (Chile, South America)

A visit to the Salto de Laja waterfalls to celebrate the start of 2022 – a beautiful day!

The Laja River, leading to the falls

Los Angeles being quite a rural and agricultural town with not much to see, we decided to go for a drive to the nearby Laja Falls. It’s a beautiful 35m waterfall, surrounded by nature and native trees. A popular tourist attraction for the locals visiting southern Chile. In fact, we did not meet any foreign tourists there.

Best wishes to everyone! from Lootie & James

The place surrounding the entry to the falls was a vast commercial enterprise, endless rows of wooden cabins selling local artifacts. Yet somehow it did not pollute the environment, no blasting music or big buildings around.

Went around the river on a boat, hiked around the falls – did not go for a swim – and enjoyed a lovely lunch by the river, in a little wooden hut. What a great way to start 2022!

Wishing you all a great year ahead, full of discoveries, adventures and happiness. Stay fit and healthy everyone! Sportively, Lootie.
