Another foggy run, I did not see much on the way to Sofia

I left again at 7am this morning and it was very foggy from the word go. I ran the first 11km on the only road leading towards Pernik, on the way to Sofia: a dual carriageway. These 11km were again very frightening. The visibility was in the range of 50-100m. Though I was wearing my high-vis apparel, traffic was passing by at speed and there wasn’t always a shoulder. At Pernik I was able to switch to a very quiet backcountry road. But the fog was persistent and very thick (humidity was above 90% today too).

I am now thinking on days where there is fog, I may want to delay my departure until it’s safe to go. After all, I have done all of my runs so far in the morning, showered and changed by lunchtime. I could well wait till after lunchtime and run early afternoon. It would involve different schedule for eating and resting, but for safety’s sake, I sure can work my way around that.

Just one picture today – I took it when it actually “”cleared out a bit””…! I did not see anything of the landscapes I passed by. A bit unfortunate. I will go out to see Sofia by night later on, and hopefully I’ll have great pictures for the blogpost tomorrow, on my rest day in this beautiful Capital.
