Cold, foggy and rainy run: there is no mistaking the season we are in now

A storm broke out last night, so strong it woke me up. Heavy rain, thunder and it got cold. I was quite excited, it’s a long time since I have seen the rain. The result was temperatures below 10 Celsius as I left this morning. The sun rose and simultaneously I saw the valley filling up with low heavy fog. By km15 I was engulfed in it.

Thankfully the road I ran on was very quiet so I was not too worried about traffic. I put on my high-vis attire nonetheless just in case. Bright pink and reflective stripes, from ankles up to neck. Then it started raining. I kept moving and did not take much breaks as I did not want to get cold.

It rained all the way through to Radomir and with the fog around, I did not get to see much of the landscape today. Radomir is a tiny town with not much activity going on. I went for a walk and saw great contrasts. Loads of abandoned and disused buildings from another era left there to rot. Even the centre seems to be deserted by the locals. Sofia is just a stone throw away from here, I am looking forward to reaching the big city tomorrow!
