Day 567 – US – Ohio [Fremont to Sandusky]

23/10/21

43km

From Fremont (Ohio) to Sandusky (Ohio)

North America

A rural run in Ohio under low grey skies

Leaving Fremont, across the Sandusky River

I left Fremont and decided to run two miles on Highway 20 – instead of going all around town. I knew I was not supposed to (I passed a sign that mentioned it was forbidden to cyclists and pedestrians) but decided to go through – there was no traffic, a wide shoulder… and it was saving me a good 4 or 5km. But that was enough for a Sheriff patrol car to stop me. I explained what I was doing and they made sure I left the Highway as promised at the next exit.

Back country roads, empty and quiet

Then I was onto quiet back country roads. I received extreme weather alerts on my phone. Apparently the US is being swept by cyclones on the west and east coasts, bringing wind, rain and snow across the country. It seems Ohio is on the watch list, the next few days should be interesting.

Entering Sandusky

Not much to report for the remainder of the day. I reached Sandusky and was planning to go on a walk downtown. Then I took a nap and realised I must have been quite tired, as I only woke up early in the evening… little time to work and I will fall asleep again – maybe I do miss my rest day after all!
