Day 568 – US – Ohio [Sandusky to Vermilion]

24/10/21

34km

From Sandusky (Ohio) to Vermilion (Ohio)

North America

By Lake Erie’s coastal road, quiet roads and beautiful sights

By Lake Erie, out of Sandusky OH

I don’t want to turn this blog into a weather report, but it was 3 Celsius as I started the run this morning, that’s really getting cold! I put my gloves on and was just fine. As long as I keep moving, cold is not an issue. It becomes one when I take my breaks – and that translates into shorter but more numerous breaks.

On the Coastal Trail, Lake Erie OH

The road today was very quiet again. Highway 6 provided a shoulder and/or pedestrian path the whole way. Traffic was low, then I realised today’s Sunday – I often don’t keep track of the days of the week…

Cranberry Creek Marina, near Vermilion OH

I made it to my hotel just in time before the skies opened. A proper downpour hit the region and I was glad I was indoors. From what I can see, I should run in the rain the next two days. I’m prepared, rain-gear has been checked and ready for use. Oh and if all goes to plan (that would be a first in the world-run!) I should reach New York City in exactly 1 month from now!
