World-run Data – Excel summary and Garmin link

Garmin Data summarised in Excel Table

It has been a long time coming! My data has been transparently displayed on my public Garmin account throughout the world-run, as well as within every daily blog-post. But it needs to be summarised in a single document to make it easier to view – which is what I have submitted to WRA (World Runners Association) for my record ratification.

The final day-count needs a bit of explaining. Throughout the world-run, the numbering of my blog posts matches the numbering of my Garmin runs (Day xxx). And the total count of these is 814 (Day 814 is my final Garmin run and final Blog post). However, I am reporting for the WRA 825 days. This is because I made a mistake, counting my Covid-forced stop in Turkey as journey-days (whereas WRA has agreed to discount any Covid-forced stop) / and I did not count my December 2021 holiday, which should have been counted in. All in all, that’s how the 825 days is calculated. [*this number excludes the 176 Covid-forced breaks]

Franck Berteau ran 287km in 7 days by my side

The final number of kilometers also needs explaining. My Garmin Lifetime total reads: 28,293km. However, for WRA reporting, I need to subtract the 10/10/2021 Chicago Marathon, which was not a “journey day” (ie: it was not technically a part of my US crossing). Therefore I am reporting to WRA 28,249km.

The journey started on 6th December 2019 in Cabo Da Roca Portugal [Europe]. It ended on 1st September 2022 in Auckland [New-Zealand].

Alice with siblings Clement and Camille – the youngest runner of the world-run!

The 825 journey-days are made of 697 running days and 128 rest days. I took on average 1 rest day per week. My running days average 40.53km per day throughout the journey.

My longest running day was on 20th August 2021 in Montana where I ran 63.24km between Terry and Glendive. My shortest running day was on 1st September 2022 in Auckland New-Zealand where I ran 5km to conclude the journey with an antipodal run.

Gunhild Swanson in Montana, the oldest runner of the journey

150 people have run or cycled by my side throughout the journey on all 4 continents. The record of most kilometers run by my side belongs to Franck Berteau who ran 287km in 7 days from Mendoza to San Luis (Argentina) in February 2022. The youngest to have run by my side is my niece Alice Leautey who was 9 y-old at the time of running on 12th July 2020 from Dubrovnik (Croatia) to Herceg Novi (Montenegro). The oldest to have run by my side is Gunhild Swanson who was 77 y-old as we ran from Spokane (Montana) to Coeur d’Alene (Idaho) on 17th July 2021.

Other data: Garmin totals 3,109 hours and 6 minutes of running for 28,293km. That equates to an average speed of 9.1kph throughout the journey (or an average pace of 6:36 per km).

I have run solo unsupported for 21,000km across Europe and North-America, pushing my 30kg loaded stroller.

I was accompanied by my friend James Brown throughout 7,300km of the South-American and Australian crossings – and only carried a small backpack containing my water, satellite tracker and GPS recorders.

I have run across 21 countries on 4 continents: Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Turkey, United States of America, Chile, Argentina, Australia, New-Zealand.
