Update from my break – 2nd anniversary of the World-Run!

Travel from New York (New York, North America) to Maullin (Chile, South America)

Update from my (extended) vacation break on the 2nd anniversary of the journey!

A quick update from my vacation break is in order!

The view from my vacation break

I was supposed to re-start the running on 7th December… unfortunately I have had a few delays and set backs with the logistics. Traveling in these times of Covid is a lot more convoluted than normal! To cut a (very) long story short, I am no longer able to travel from my vacation place via the US into Chile. So I am having to travel all the way back to Europe (London), spend a couple of days there to sort out all the formalities (PCR test, online forms and application for Chile mobility pass). Then I’ll be flying to Chile on Friday 10th and hopefully restart the run on the 12th or 13th of December. At the end of the day, it’s just a small delay! I will need to get some running as I have been quite lazy on my break…

Memory: 2 years ago, 6th December 2019, where the journey started…

I am also celebrating today the 2nd anniversary of the world-run. On that day, 2 years ago, I stood on the “start line” of the journey, in Cabo da Roca. My parents had traveled with me all the way there, they had driven me to the Lighthouse by the ocean. Halfway through the run, they met me again one last time and we had a breakfast on the road. It was a beautiful sunny day. Then they drove off and I was on my own – I have very vivid memories of that day and the emotions as I reached my first stage finish, at Tore de Belem in Lisbon. What a beautiful day it had been…
