Day 785 – Australia – VIC [Ballan (Ingliston) to Caroline Springs]

03/08/22

44km

From Ballan (Ingliston) (Victoria) to Caroline Springs (Victoria)

Australia

Windy again, but bright blue skies bring hope of better and warmer days ahead

Along the windswept country roads

What a night! We parked the motorhome in the caravan park of Ballan for the night. The wind got even stronger than it was during the day, the rain poured like hell throughout the night. It was, though, noticeably warmer as I started, at around 11 Celsius. But the wind was very much cooling everything and I was glad to have it on my back mostly, which made for some very quick kilometers.

Surprise visit from Graham, Melton Victoria

At km27, I was surprised to see a car parked by the side of the road and three people came out, one of them holding a mobile phone and filming me. Shoot, I was not movie ready! “Is it ok if I put it on FB?” asked the man. Well, I stopped for a chat! It turns out Graham is a MP for the city of Melton (I was running through the south of Melton). He had heard about my journey and managed to find me using the live-tracker on my website! Awesome.

A friendly cow 🙂

I finished the run in Caroline Springs which is a suburb of Melbourne. We are now very close to Melbourne, a mere 21km away from it. Tomorrow my run should be shorter (around 30km). I will run towards the Central Business District (CBD), take the jetty over the Yarra River and finish at the Town Hall. How amazing that the skies have cleared and the wind gone down just when I am making my way to Melbourne. A good omen!
