The joy of running on the quiet Nullarbor plains

I could not post this blog timely due to lack of internet access – I will try and remember the day! It was pretty cool and windy today, bright blue skies with few clouds, more like a veil, nothing menacing – I really think that cold front and rain and icy wind we had last week is gone. Fingers crossed it stays this way now, this weather is perfect for running.

Meeting Nikki, a british cyclist/ runner!

About halfway through the run I met Nikki Love, a British woman who was riding her bike and coming my way. We stopped for a chat. She actually intends to cross Australia running next year, and she was here doing some recce on her bike. Awesome! I don’t think that many women have run across Australia – and : she plans to do it in 2 months. It sounds completely alien to me (it is taking me 4 months!!). Well, good on her to go for it.

And my side-kick!

I finished the run and we were right in the middle of two roadhouses, 90k or so from each. Wild camping in the outback then! It was also a near-full moon (full is tomorrow) and when the night set in it was beautiful to see all the saltbush lit up from above, very surreal. Another great day on the Nullarbor Plains!
