Running along the Heritage Trail through beautiful nature under perfect weather conditions

Australia’s typical red earth – on the Heritage Trail

Today’s run was again on very familiar grounds. I have run the Heritage Trail a few times in my training journeys prior to the world-run. I have always enjoyed it greatly and today was equally pleasant. The run started quite late this morning as we had to stop by a bike shop to fix James’ bike – it seemed to have suffered a bit during the journey and a lot of fine tuning needed to be done. It seems we are all set now!

Beautiful trail and nature

Today was a short run again, and I should get back to my standard marathon distance tomorrow. There’s always some adjustments needed when you have taken a break. I reckon it will take a good two weeks till it feels completely normal again. Until then, I am expecting to feel tiredness in my legs where I normally don’t. Not too bad.

Lake Leschenaultia

I ran on the heritage trail today. A beautiful nature trail which retraces the path of the pioneers who opened the railway line across the state of Western Australia (WA). The railway was essential to the growth of Perth and was a great work of engineering. The state has done a great job keeping the history of the railway well documented and the path in pristine condition. I met many people, cycling, trekking, sightseeing… Such a beautiful day for what is here an autumn day. temperatures in the mid 20 Celsius, perfect for running.

Tonight we stay by the Lake Leschenaultia. I have stayed there before on my pre- world run trainings. I didn’t have the luxury of a motorhome and slept in a tiny tent back then. But the pleasure to set camp by a lake and wake up to it remains unchanged.
