Europe

Balmy weather, 20 degrees and a suntan

I knew today would be a good day. The weather forecast was springtime like, the air was cool, Saturday morning means cyclists on the road, and the road was seaside for over 20km.

National Road 340 is most likely how I will remember running in most of Spain! Since I reached the Mediterranean Coast via Malaga a month ago (or 1,000km ago) I have run on or near NR340 nearly every day. I have read today that this road stops South of Barcelona – and in effect, this means today was the last I will run on this National Road.

I was glad to let the road behind me and move on to the seaside, about 26km into the run. On such a warm Saturday morning, the promenade was filled with runners, cyclists, families and children. It was at times a bit busy for me and BoB to navigate through the crowds! I don’t complain, it was very enjoyable, and I got a lot of thumbs up and encouragements.

Staying tonight in the little seaside town of Cubelles, and looking forward to reaching the area of Barcelona tomorrow. This week is special too, as I will get to run 5 days straight before meeting with my parents. We will then enjoy a day off together, before heading towards (and crossing) the Pyreneans. What a journey!
